The Lake Wingra series emerged from two years of living and working alongside Lake Wingra in Madison, Wisconsin, exploring visual languages for expressing the multitude of a place. The paintings bring together local ecosystems, sound, shifting rhythms of time, and changing perceptions across seasons and times of day, collapsing these experiences into layered visual ecosystems within a single picture plane. Through this compression of time and perspective, the series seeks to evoke the lake’s expansiveness, complexity, and the awe of the natural world.
