The Sky series emerged from a six-year practice of direct observation and sky gazing, engaging Buddhist philosophy through sustained attention to the spacious luminosity of the sky and teaching son the nature of mind. Working through presence, light, and the interdependence of color, these paintings explore looking itself as a contemplative practice. This work was central to my Fulbright research in Nepal.
